raindrops

there is desperation
in the greenest trees
a secret conflagration
in the coolest breeze

the kitten at the window
the butterfly in the air
watch the raindrops follow
each other in despair

and when the leaves fall
yellow in the rain
the sidewalk hears them call
a whispered name

wow!
timmy...

i'm speechless! this is one of those BIG BIG works... that cut deep into our soul... the archetypal images and also the arrangement of ideas and images... and souds... have made this work so impressive and strong:

you invite the reader to look at the world differently... to see desperation in green trees... the hasty critic may see it as pessimism... but the next part helps him to judge more soundly:
you invite us to see a fire in the cold breez, too...

and in two seemingly simple images you have gathered all the wisdom we need to know about the existence...

then we walk down (or up) the micro/macrocosmic spiral path you have presented to us:

the kitten and the butterfly part of our self are here... our instincts/desires... and our soul/mind...

and the incessant repetitive flow of cyclic time...

'in despair' can refer both to raindrops and kitten 'n butterfly, eh?

this is great... the way you show we are all spinning in this cycle...

again the hasty critic in us wants to judge... ha! pessimism!

but the third stanza stops him:

yellow leaves falling... yes this is death presented here... but this death is not the end... a name is called... a sound is heard...
this connotes a kind of relation... give and take... i see love here... and with love comes birth...

the cycle of birth/death/rebirth...

and all this happens in the rain... rain... rain...

growth... growth... growth...

this is what this life is all about... in birth we grow... in death we grow... in love we grow... in despair we grow...

really really loved this work... and it's so obvious! this brought out the chatterbox in me!

i can write a book on this!!!
no kidding!
:D

and i know you might say you didn't even think about these things i'm saying... surely i know about how images take over us (i'm using dear poet friend, Tom[TC]'s words)...

but you know, i have a double life... at times i'm taken over by them... and sometimes they are taken over by me...
:D

thanks for sharing this gem with us... you made my day!

love and peace to you dear friend

ps.
hey... i decided to send folks over here...

Well I can not add anything new to what human being has already said.
But I am loving that final stanza. Beautiful, you.

Timmy,

A lovely piece, truly, hangs in the air like a small weeping cloud, defying speech, but capturing a feeling of life as it is lived and felt.

But human being and SarahA are the voices to be heard on this, I would merely echo what they have said.

yes, agree agree; this was a lovely haunting piece... I especially liked the little cat... and the whispered name. Quite a captivating mood you have conveyed.

Nothing is sadder or more beautiful than the poetic sadness of the rain
